Why am I the other Keating?

There are plenty of famous Keatings in the world. There is an Irish singer (who my mum affectionately calls “Cousin”), there’s an ex-Australian Prime Minister, and a few others that I can’t remember. So, while I’m not really famous, I guess I can call myself the “Other Keating”.

So who is, the “Other Keating”? Quite a few things. Primarily, a self-confessed Australian computer nerd. I have a Degree in IT (majoring in Network Communications) and have worked in the field for quite a number of years. Currently working in a customer service job that isn’t entirely in the field, and looking for something new. Cough cough.

I’m also a PC gamer – while I started late I sure made up for it later. Generally enjoy First Person Shooters and simulations.

I also play and watch sport. I play indoor netball at an average level, and umpire it at a (slightly) higher level. Naturally, this means I enjoy regular netball as well, so expect posts about the ANZ Championship. Cricket, rugby union and league also take my fancy.

I like music, movies and TV shows. I’m average like that. I also like astronomy, physics, science. Not so average there. I like a good bit of comedy, so don’t be surprised if you see me quote Monty Python!

I take an interest in current events, politics, and anything where I have an opinion. I like a laugh, so posts on here may be sarcastic, in jest, or completely serious. I don’t lean to the left or right, so take that into account.

By the way, I’m a bit of a Twitter junkie. If I can fit it into 140 characters it will be at D_Keating.

My prized possession (apart from my PCs) is my Toyota AE86 Sprinter. I’ve had for about 5 years now, and is my daily drive. It’s way too much fun, perfectly legal and gives me a smile every time I drive it.

So welcome! This blog is a spot for my extended writings on any of these topics and more.
